Celine Dion gives rare update after stiff-person syndrome diagnosis in Thanksgving message to fans.

Celine Dion stepped away from the limelight after being diagnosed with stiff-person syndrome. The iconic singer has taken a break from her career, and only time will reveal if she will make a comeback to the stage. Recently, Dion has opened up and shared a Thanksgiving message with her fans.

Celine Dion is regarded as one of the most significant singers in history. The Canadian singer has been performing since her teenage years and has had two residencies in Las Vegas. However, in 2022, her career faced a devastating turn when she was diagnosed with stiff-person syndrome.

This rare and incurable neurological condition can lead to severe muscle spasms. This setback has made it difficult for Dion to perform as she wishes.

“It feels like someone is choking you. It’s as if someone is pressing on your larynx/pharynx,” Celine Dion explained to NBC last year. “It was like trying to talk like that, and you can’t reach high or low notes.”

“It goes into a spasm, it began [in the throat]. [And I thought], ‘No, okay, it’s going to be alright.’ But it can also affect the abdomen, the spine, or the ribs.”

Dion added, “Sadly, these spasms impact every part of my daily life,” she mentioned. “At times, it makes walking difficult and prevents me from using my vocal cords to sing as I normally do.”

In 2016, Dion and her family endured a tragic loss when they lost their husband and father, René Angélil, to throat cancer. The couple has a son, René-Charles, and twin boys, Nelson and Eddy.

Celine Dion shares a touching Thanksgiving message

Just two days after René’s passing, Celine’s brother, Danie, succumbed to brain, throat, and tongue cancer. In 2019, the singer opened up to People Magazine about how she discovered strength in the face of such devastating losses.

“To help my children understand, ‘Don’t look for dad,’ that made me strong,” she shared. “All the little things, and the big things, they have to make you stronger. Otherwise, you don’t grasp the essence of life itself.”

“Throughout my life, I’ve had so much protection. I’m the 14th child in my family. I had a large support system,” she explained. “I never had the chance to contemplate what I wanted to do with my life. It just unfolded. Suddenly, I’m making all the choices.” She continued, “I’m in charge now.”Things have been quite subdued around Celine Dion in recent years. She was spotted with her sons at Paul McCartney’s concert in Las Vegas last October. For Thanksgiving, the 57-year-old finally spoke out.

In a heartfelt Instagram video message, Celine Dion encouraged her fans to take it easy during what can be a stressful holiday weekend for some.

Addressing the camera, Dion said, “Dear friends. Today serves as a beautiful reminder to slow down, take a deep breath, and express gratitude. There’s something incredibly powerful about gathering with loved ones, whether it’s around a full table, over the phone, or even just in your heart.”

“Wishing you a day overflowing with love, thankfulness, and cherished moments.”

She went on to say, “I am incredibly grateful for my family and the time we share, which means everything to me. I hope your Thanksgiving is brimming with happiness, tranquility, and appreciation for all things, even the small ones. Happy Thanksgiving from my family to yours…”

In addition to her message, the singer expressed: “Sending warm wishes for a lovely and serene Thanksgiving! May your day be filled with love, gratitude, and special moments with those who matter most to you. – Celine xx…”
